The first ever Great Outdoors Foundation Adventure Race (GOFAR) will take place on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Jester Park in northeast Polk County. This is your chance to challenge yourself and your teammates to navigate approximately 50 miles by foot, bike, and canoe in one day of fun and adventure.
All funds generated by the race will go to support the work of the Great Outdoors Foundation. The Great Outdoors Foundation's mission is: "To provide high quality, healthy living for Greater Polk County through expanded open space, restored landscapes, greater recreation, and outdoor education opportunities."

The Race
The race will begin at 6:00 a.m. on October 7, at Jester Park. You will have up to 12 hours to complete this course with your team of three. Along the way you will be required to participate in a variety of activities while navigating your way to the finish. There will be a pre race meeting on Saturday, October 6, at 7:00 p.m. at Campground #4 in Jester Park. Overnight camping will be provided free to all teams making for a convenient access to the start.
The race will be held regardless of weather conditions. Be prepared for whatever is thrown our way! In the event of dangerous conditions, GOFAR staff will implement necessary safety measures.

Teams
Teams will consist of 3 members and may be same sex or co-ed. All participants must be 18 years of age or older. Your team will be required to navigate and complete the course together to be officially ranked. There will be no support crew allowed to your team once the race has begun.

Registration
Registration is open to teams of 3 consisting of individuals 18 or older. Team entry fee is $400. All fees must be received before teams are officially entered. Refunds due to cancellation will be dependent upon the ability to fill the space being vacated.
All team members will receive the following as part of your entry fee:
- Participation in a challenging multi sport adventure race!
- Free overnight camping on October 6 for your team.
- A 1/4 zip pull over windbreaker with the GOFAR logo provided by Scheels (sizes only guaranteed if registered by 8/30).
- Post race meal for all team members.
- Free post race adult beverages (2) to race participants 21 years of age provided by IA Beverage.
- A variety of goodies provided by our great sponsors.
- Great memories of an adventurous day well spent!
All teams will be required to download and complete the provided waivers. These waivers will need to be presented to event staff along with a photo ID and proof of health insurance at check in.

Awards
Awards for first and second place will be awarded to the top finishers in three categories: Men, Women and Co-Ed. All participants will be treated to great SWAG as part of participating.
